FRESH Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts for $1.48/lb {and a HUGE giveaway!}

Stockpiling meat is no easy task. It’s the one part of my grocery budget I have the hardest time with. I’ll use overages and Catalinas to lower my out of pocket, but that only gets me so far. Often times, I find myself at Costco. However, even Costco’s prices are a little steep.

At my local Costco, Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts are $2.79/lb…

They do come nicely pre-packaged (two half breasts per pack), but our family needs 3/meal, which makes the “convenient” package not so convenient.

Some questions you might have…

Will 40 pounds of chicken fit in the freezer section of my refrigerator?
It should! My refrigerator is 25 cubic feet (I’m not really sure how big that makes my freezer), but you can see how all of my chicken fit into the top drawer (except that night’s dinner):

I’m not sure we’ll need the whole 40 lbs, can I just buy 20lbs?
Zaycon Foods is able to offer this discounted price because of the quantity they are purchasing. If you think 40 lbs is too much, consider asking a friend or neighbor to split a box with you. The chicken is already separated into 10 lb bags, which makes it very easy to split up.

I want to register at Zaycon Foods, but I’m not sure how many boxes I need?
After this Fall’s delivery, the next won’t take place until about the end of next March. This means you’ll need to plan for about 5 months worth of chicken. I was able to get 26 meals out of my 40 lb box, which means we’ll have enough for about one chicken meal a week. We generally eat at least two meals of chicken, so I think we’ll be buying a second box.
